The new Mauna Lani Spa remains in keeping with Mauna Lani Resort's lifework to preserve the cultural and spiritual environment of Hawaii. Dedicated to Hawaiian tradition, every aspect of Mauna Lani Spa has been designed in accordance with traditional Hawaiian methods and healing practices. Indigenous plants and materials are used both in the landscape and architecture, which reflects the look and feel of Old Hawaii. The treatments offered are authentic Hawaiian, not a reproduction of a Hawaiian experience. The elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water influence the treatments and experiences, such as mud wraps using volcanic ash, hot stone therapies, and Thalassotherapy with seaweed wraps and baths. For the active spa-goers, a hiking program that touches on all four elements is offered.
Golf
Mauna Lani's two golf courses, the Francis H. I'i Brown North and South, offer a challenging experience to novice and professional alike. Mauna Lani's courses have earned a firm place among the world's golfing Mecca's.
Tennis
Part of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, the Tennis Garden is a 10- court facility which has been rated one of the "Top 50 Greatest U.S. Tennis Resorts" by Tennis Magazine every year since 1983. The Tennis Garden provides Plexipave playing surfaces. The Tennis staff has also created a "Friends of the Tennis Garden," a list of local tennis players who can be called upon to play a match with hotel guests. The Racquet Club is located a couple of minutes from the hotel lobby. Once host to the Davis Cup Championships, the Racquet Club offers six plexi-pave courts (three lit for night play), a stadium court with spectator seating for 500, table tennis, gym, lap pool and locker room.
The Racquet Club and Fitness Center
The Racquet Club is a 15-acre sports complex set among bougainvillea, chattering mynah birds and lotus ponds. Rated five stars by Tennis Industry Magazine, the facility features plexi-pave courts of slow and medium speeds plus a stadium court with gallery seating for 500. Some courts are illuminated for night play. The Fitness Center, adjacent to the Racquet Club, features life fitness, cardio and strength training equipment, steam, hot tub, locker rooms and a watsu therapy and water dance pool. Aerobics and yoga classes are also offered. A 25-meter lap pool is available for the avid swimmer, with a Jacuzzi nearby for relaxing after a strenuous workout.
