The developer of the Hapuna Beach Residences has opened some of the luxury condominium units to guests as vacation rentals at the Mauna Kea Resort property on Hawaii Island.

The beachfront units, which range from studios to four-bedroom units, are managed by Prince Resorts Hawaii’s Mauna Kea Residences in partnership with East West Hospitality of Colorado, with rates ranging from $700 per night to $4,000 per night.
“East West Hospitality is thrilled to be able to add these thoughtfully designed residences to our growing inventory of luxury vacation rentals,” East West Hospitality CEO & President Colleen Weiss-Hanen, said in a statement. “The Hapuna Beach Residences offer a truly private & exclusive vacation experience in this coveted destination.”
Sales of the Hapuna Beach Residences — 68 luxury condo units in a former tower of what is now the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort — began in 2018. Sales of 24 of the units have closed in 2020 and 2021 for prices ranging from $1.5 million to $7.99 million, according to public records.
The developer, La Jolla, California-based West Point Investment Corp., is using the remaining units for the vacation rental pool.
West Point Investment Corp., and financial partner Angelo, Gordon & Co. of New York bought the hotel’s beachfront tower and 8,000-square-foot Hapuna Beach Villa, which the hotel had marketed as its presidential suite, in 2016 for $65 million.

The project was designed by deReus Architects and Philpotts Interiors and built by Metzler Contracting Co. LLC .
The four-bedroom Hapuna Beach Villa was listed for sale at $18.99 million and sold for $16.5 million in December 2019, according to public records. The buyer was an entity owners by Hideki Tomita, founder and CEO of Tokyo-based Dip Corp., which operates a job information and recruiting website in Japan. By Janis L.
